Bot Detection is an interactive filter within your workspace that highlights the likelihood of coordinated bot activity. You can use it to:
  • View only mentions published bot-like accounts.
  • Compare organic user activity vs. automated or coordinated activity.
  • Layer the filter with other insights—like favorability or themes—to uncover deeper patterns in your data.
Image How Bot Detection Works Bot detection determines the likelihood that an account is using automation to post content. Our algorithm assesses multiple behavioral and content-based signals such as posting frequency, account age, and follower count to determine the likelihood that an account is automated. If an account is explicitly labeled as a bot on its native platform, our algorithm will automatically classify it in the ‘Almost Certain’ category. Based on these signals, accounts are grouped into categories that reflect our confidence level in labeling them as automated accounts. We may flag the account as ‘Further Investigation’ when a bot category is not conclusive. Note: Bot Detection is available only for social channels including Twitter (X), Youtube, Reddit, Telegram, Instagram, Discord, Weibo, and VK. How to Use Bot Detection in the Platform
  1. Apply the Bot Detection filter from your workspace filters panel. Select the level of confidence or bot-likelihood you want to analyze.
  2. Use additional filters—such as Smart Categories for additional insights like favorability or themes—to segment further (e.g., unfavorable mentions driven by bots vs. real users).
Review your AI Summary, which automatically updates to highlight key insights and recurring themes from bot-likely networks. Additional Tips
  • Combine Bot Detection with the**Volume Over Time ** chart to spot sudden spikes in automated activity.
  • Use the AI Summary for a quick thematic overview and leverage the AI chatbot to ask targeted questions about that segment of filtered mentions.
  • Review both bot-likely and non-bot segments to understand how automation is influencing the broader conversation.
